About Beverley Men in Sheds
Beverley Men in Sheds is unusual, but not unique, in that it welcomes members from both genders. We provide a community space for everyone to create, socialise and share experiences in a friendly environment.
Generally we are open 5 days a week from 09:30 to about 14:00, but we do sometimes have "away days " when we may visit an exhibition or museum or even take a short boat trip. All members are welcome to join these sessions.

Men in sheds originated in Australia and came to the UK in 2013. It is estimated that the UK has 1000 active sheds catering for approximately 13,000 members, who benefit from regular social interactions . Its OK if you just want to meet at a shed for a "cuppa" and a chat.
For a long time research has shown that loneliness and isolation has a negative impact on a persons health and well-being, "men in sheds" helps to overcome loneliness by creating a friendly environment where shedders can improve their existing skills and gain new ones.
Men typically find it more difficult to build social connections than women and, unlike women of a similar age, less older men have networks of friends and rarely share personal concerns about health and personal worries. It is not the case for all men, but for some, when retirement comes, it can feel like a personal identity and purpose is lost. Men's Sheds can change all of that.
